Step 3
Clinical Rotation
Begin your 4 or 8-week observership. You will be paired with experienced board-certified preceptors in the New York/New Jersey area, gaining valuable insights, networking opportunities and participating in daily rounds, patient histories, and clinical discussions. Gain the high-yield clinical hours and U.S. healthcare literacy required for a competitive residency application.
Step 2
Selection & Enrollment
Participate in a brief introductory call with our team. Once cleared. you’ll receive a comprehensive onboarding packet covering HIPAA compliance, EMR basics, and site-specific protocols. You will also receive your schedule, location details, and compliance training The Goal: To ensure you arrive on day one feeling prepared, professional, and ready to engage with the medical team.
Step 4
Performance Evaluation
At the conclusion of your program, you will receive a formal evaluation. Exceptional or high-performing candidates who demonstrate clinical excellence and professional growth may be eligible for a Merit-Based Letter of Recommendation (LoR) to support their ERAS application.
Who Can Apply?
Our mentorship is tailored for dedicated medical professionals. To maintain the high standards of our clinical sites, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Educational Background
Must be a current student or graduate of an international medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).
Language Proficiency
Strong command of the English language to ensure effective communication in a U.S. clinical setting.
Documentation:
Applicants must possess a valid passport and demonstrate the ability to obtain a B1/B2 visa (where applicable).
USMLE Status:
While Step 1 or Step 2 scores are not strictly required for all rotations, preference is given to candidates who have completed or are currently preparing for their board exams.
Visa & Travel Support
While Élève Medical Mentorship does not provide direct visa sponsorship, we are committed to supporting our international candidates. Upon formal acceptance into a rotation, we provide a Letter of Invitation and enrollment verification. These documents are frequently used by IMGs to support B1/B2 visa applications for professional development and clinical observerships."

Where are the clinical rotations located? All rotations are hosted across our established clinical network within the high-volume, diverse New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, offering unparalleled clinical volume and networking opportunities.
Will I get experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)? Yes. A core pillar of the Élève Edge is ensuring you build practical, hands-on tech familiarity. You will gain vital exposure to leading EMR systems, master the nuances of U.S. clinical documentation, and develop a comprehensive understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protocols.
How does the program help with my ERAS application? Alongside your rotation, you will receive targeted mentorship focused on: Personal Branding: Optimizing your professional profile for residency directors. ERAS Formatting: Structuring a high-impact CV and drafting compelling personal statements. Letters of Recommendation: Building the authentic, professional relationships necessary to earn merit-based Letters of Recommendation (LoR).
What medical specialties do you offer? We offer core and elective options hosted across our clinical network, including: Internal Medicine (General & Sub-specialties), Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN), General Surgery (Observation only). How long are the clinical blocks? Most rotations are structured in 4-week blocks. Candidates can request consecutive blocks for up to 8 weeks for a deeper clinical dive and a more immersive experience
Is housing included in the program? Housing is not directly included in the program fee, allowing applicants the flexibility to choose accommodations that best fit their budget and lifestyle
Does Élève provide neighborhood recommendations or housing assistance? Yes. Upon acceptance into the program, our team provides a curated accommodation guide featuring safe, convenient neighborhoods in the New York/New Jersey area with straightforward transit access to your specific clinical site. We also connect incoming cohorts to facilitate roommate matching if desired.
What immunization and health records are required? To protect both applicants and patients, all participants must submit up-to-date immunization records prior to their start date. Required documentation typically includes proof of vaccination or immunity against MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella (Chickenpox), Hepatitis B, Tdap, an annual Influenza vaccine, and a recent negative Tuberculosis (TB) screening.
Do I need health insurance during my rotation? Yes. All rotating students and graduates must maintain active health insurance coverage for the entire duration of their enrollment with Élève to ensure compliance with our clinical network regulations.
What are the tuition costs for an Élève rotation? Tuition varies depending on the specific specialty selected, the clinical site allocation, and the duration of your rotation blocks. Detailed tuition structures are provided individually upon reviewing your initial inquiry.
Are there any hidden administrative or processing fees? No. Élève prides itself on absolute transparency. Your finalized tuition statement covers your clinical placement, onboarding administration, EMR compliance setup, and all integrated residency prep mentorship sessions.
Can I secure a rotation before my visa is approved? We recommend starting your inquiry early. You can submit an inquiry to check availability for your preferred blocks, and our team will guide you through the timeline requirements for your clinical placement.
